As the power increases north of 1000 wheel HP the flexplate does just that, flexes to a point where the mounting flange on the factory converter cracks and breaks apart. This issue is becoming more common as these units age and power increases.
The billet mounting pad was developed to mitigate this issue. The factory mounting plate is removed and the billet pads are TIG welded into place and then the converter is balanced to ensure smooth operation. Existing billet stator converters can be sent in to have the billet pads installed.
