This improved design allows 1/4-20 threaded rod (supplied) to allow use with the new Johnson lifters. The new lifter cup is recessed further into the lifter bore. The new design allows greater length to accommodate for this. The tool is now configurable in any length with any 1/4-20 threaded rod.
