When you think about how much power must be transmitted from the crank pulley by your serpentine belt, well, it just boggles the mind. Seriously, that belt is not only driving your alternator, steering pump, and A/C... but now it has to power a supercharger that draws 30 to 40 HP. The simple fact is that the weak spring in the factory tensioner just can't apply enough force to the belt to keep it from slipping on the blower pulley. With this beefy heavy duty belt tensioner you will prevent belt slippage around supercharger drive pulleys and even prevent thrown belts due to the whipping action caused during shifts and higher rpm throttle releases. The body of this tensioner makes it a great replacement for blown applications that break off the flimsy factory tensioner. Even the idler wheel on this unit is made of metal (as opposed to the factory plastic wheel). Recommended for all serpentine driven supercharger applications on higher boost applications, all boosted built motors as well as on all manual transmission cars with positive displacement superchargers due to the increased whipping of the belt.
